History
Do you know where Argos got their name from? Ancient Greek mythology states that Zeus and Niobe's son was named Argos....BOOM! MIND BLOWN! Did you also know that Argos was rivals with Sparta? Here's some history on Argos.
Argos was very rich and had a very nice environment. They were the first to become a major power in the tyrant pheidon in the 7th century even though Argos was one of the oldest city-states. Inachus is the god of the river that is located in the front of the city, the son of Oceanus and Tethys, and he was the first king of Argos. Also, Argos was a rival to Sparta to see who gets the Argolid since the 7th century to the 5th century. Speaking of battles, Poseidon and Hera had a battle. Since Argos had such nice waters and a nice environment, Poseidon, the moody god of the seas, and Hera, the wife of Zeus both wanted the land to themselves. Their fight got so bad that the Rivers, the powers of the city, had to make a decision. After a long talk, the Rivers chose Hera (DUN DUN DUN!!). Poseidon was so mad because the Rivers were his cousins, so he went and dried up the land of Argos.
